This EP-in-progress is to be a collection of pieces built primarily from a 16-beat drum break played by Gregory Coleman in The Winstons' Amen My Brother. This break has been heavily sampled by the hip-hop community and its varied and various suburbs. The sound and excitement of this particular passage are so widely used and recognized that it is referred to simply as the amen break, similar to the rhythm changes in the jazz community…

The first track was created for a live dance performance by Amiti Perry at the 2006 Sullivant Summer Series (Columbus, Ohio), which will also be presented at the Cunningham Studios in New York City this October, with the collective InnerLandscapes. I also created a visual companion for the music using Cycling 74's Jitter. The visuals consist of a series of video planes moving to the music in real time through 3D space. The stills above are from the projection. There are more stills here.
