Labeled "up-and-coming" by Time Out NY, and a "dynamic duo" by Classics Today, Zentripetal made its debut in 2006. Longtime collaborators, violinist Lynn Bechtold and cellist Jennifer DeVore have been performing together since they were students at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Jazz Weekly recently called them "a nice mix of clever and creative." Pizzicato Journal called them "outstanding." Strings magazine labeled them "close to the edge" and "impressive." To date, the duo has performed in NYC at the American Museum of Natural History, Austrian Cultural Forum NYC, Dixon Place, Galapagos, Goethe Institut NYC, the JCC, the Museum of the City of New York, Le Poisson Rouge, Players Theatre, Poets House, the Roerich Museum, Rolling Orange, ShapeShifter Lab, the Renee Weiler Concert Hall at Greenwich House, & the Yeshiva University Museum, as well as in Paris at the Cité Internationale des Arts and at l'Institut Finlandais. They've also performed on the Music With A View Festival, North River Music Series, & Vox Novus Series. Their collaborations have been with artists such as pianist Dimitri Dover; violinist Mioi Takeda; vocalists Heidi Hart and Sharon Harms; the vocal/piano duo Two Sides Sounding (Eleanor Taylor and Mila Henry); maverick composers Gloria Coates, Alvin Lucier, and Morton Subotnick; and chef Kurt Gutenbrunner. Their first CD was released on September 30, 2014, on Composers Concordance Records, distributed by Naxos.
